Presentation title: Understanding the Cyber Security Headlines

Presentation topic: Looking at recent attacks against companies and individuals hitting the media, and walking through what really happened (as much as is known, with educated guesses to fill in the gaps), and how to read between the lines of stories to understand what it really means for your or your principal’s data.

Quote: “It’s vital we remember in cyber security that technology is just a tool to connect the threats we want to protect against to the assets we want to protect. Both the threats and the assets are people. Sometimes they’re the same people.”

OSINT Workshop with Ben Owen and Danni Brooke – Is your digital footprint compromising your Principal

We leave digital traces every moment of every day. We just don’t realise it. Logging into a hotel Wi-Fi network, registering to vote, leaving a review on Google, posting a tweet, downloading an app, subscribing to online services. The pandemic accelerated people’s online digital footprint significantly. Now more than ever, physical security MUST have an equally focused digital security plan. The OSINT Group will be walking you through how the bad guys will conduct online reconnaissance on their victims. They will demonstrate that even those at the very height of organisations who have teams working to protect them, can still be unravelled online exposing places, people, routes and more. As a close protection team, it is imperative to understand what the bad guys could find out online. Why would they target your principles at home when security is high, when they can wait until they visit their favourite restaurant on a Friday night with
their family.

This session will be highly interactive and addressing key digital security issues that are too often overlooked by physical teams. If you want to enhance overall security and understand some frightening techniques bad guys are using through open source intelligence, then this session is not to be missed.
